As I step down from my role, I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey, especially all players, assistant coaches, and club staff, whose dedication has made my tenure such an enjoyable one. My sincere thanks go to Tim Kilworth and Gavin Powell, whose loyal support and hard work over the years have been invaluable. I’m forever grateful for your dedication.
Looking ahead, I couldn’t be more thrilled to congratulate Neil Connell (Codge) as our newly appointed head coach. With Neil at the helm, the club is in excellent hands, and I am confident his leadership will continue to drive us to new heights.
Reflecting on this season, what a start it was. We opened with commanding victories over Old Ivanhoe and De La Salle away, signaling that we were more than ready to compete in B Grade. A huge home win against Trinity to claim the Mitre Cup was another highlight, and it was clear we were building something special.
While injuries slowed our momentum in the latter half of the season, we fought on, ultimately securing a well-earned spot in Prem B for 2025, just narrowly missing the finals by 2 games . The talented youth on show this year at the Club was unprecedented and these young stars will provide more exciting times ahead.
2024 Season Highlights:
- Achieved the highest B Grade finish in club history.
- James Allen celebrated a remarkable sixth Best & Fairest award for the club.
- Simon Bennett and Harry Crothers reached their 200-game milestones.
- Andrew Parker celebrated 150 games, and Robert West achieved his 100-game milestone.
- Harry Laukens topped the league goal-kicking with an impressive 46 goals.
Over the past decade, the club has been my second home and a constant source of joy. I want to sincerely thank all of our supporters and the Wellers community for your relentless efforts, dedication, and passion for bringing the club to where it is today. Leaving the club is bittersweet, but I do so with pride in all we’ve achieved together and with many fond memories. Though I’ll miss the club dearly, I promise to visit regularly. Thank you all. Here's to continued success and to a bright future under Neil’s guidance.
